In 2021, the value of imported auto parts was 125% higher than the value of auto parts exported from the US. In 2021, the US imported US$159.6 billion in automotive parts and exported US$70.94 billion in automotive parts. 2021 was an all-time record for imports, beating the previous high of $157.5 billion in 2018.

China, formerly #4 is now #3 and Germany is #6. Chinese automotive parts imported into the US peaked at $20 billion in 2018, an increase of 15% over 2017.
